Abstract The issue of girl-child education is a global concern even though its negative impact is much more pronounced in the third world countries. For the past two decades or more, conferences, seminars and workshops have been organized to discuss gender-feminism and girl-child education in national development. The central theme of such discussions centered mostly on the need to raise the status of women and bring them into the developmental process as equal partners with men.
