States citizens have developed an incorrect pre-disposition towards Middle Eastern persons by assuming that members of this race are terrorists and/or evil. This predisposition is often termed a “bias”, “stereotype”, or “prejudice ” in popular culture, but can be operationally defined as differential responding towards members of a specific race. The “differential responding” may take the form of racial slurs, unfair labor practices, or physical attacks, all which have increased in frequency following the recent terrorist attacks in the United States (CAIR, 2002).
