In the northwestern region of Russia, winter cereals very often can’t realize advantages with respect to yield owing to a complex set of unfavorable overwintering conditions. At the same time, spring triticale can be grown here as an exceptionally promising feed grain crop. The selection of high-yielding forms well adapted to local conditions from heterogeneous accessions of spring triticale of the VIR (Vavilov All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Industry) world collection is effective for accelerated creation of the required culti-vars.
