This work is dealing with a list of 174 species of wild mammals breeding at the Roman zoo in eighty ycars. The authors'aims are: to provide more insight on the history of the zoo; to single out species or taxonomic groups which would be more appropriate for the zoo's future breeding programmes; to make public a first data base for conservationists and researchers.
