Abstract—We developed a fluorinated, UV-stable, high birefrin-gence and low viscosity liquid crystal mixture for projection dis-plays. With this mixture in a thin-cell-gap LCOS, we can achieve submillisecond gray-to-gray response time at an elevated temper-ature, which enables color sequential projection displays with neg-ligible color breakup.
