Abstract: In this paper, we describe a system that provides automated mentoring through the use of reflective thinking in eportfolios. Reflective thinking is a cognitive tool to cultivate deep learning. It is most effective when done within a community of peers where social interaction is emphasized. Moreover, it is also important that reflection is guided by a mentor so that meaningful exchange can take place. We currently propose a system that dynamically generates reflective prompts from past and current eportfolios and adapt such prompts to students.
