Abstract:- Modern library must keep pace with the continuosly changing technological environment which often requires rethinking and re-organizing entire library facilities as a prerequisite condition for upgrading or changing traditional patterns of providing user service. The implementation and utilization of Automated Material Handling Systems (AMHS) facilities significantly increases the efficiency of library collection storing and handling while enhancing archives productivity and performance. This paper provides a presentation of the structure and operation of the AMH System along with a case study at the University Library and City Archives of Bergen, Norway
