Many small businesses are having a difficult time in the competitive retail industry. One factor that is involved with retail performance is general retail patronage loyalty. This study examines the relationships of advertising attitude, materialistic attitude, buying impulsiveness, political viewpoints, and consumers ’ demographics with general retail patronage loyalty. A model was developed in an effort to be supportive of small local retailers. The study found that attitude towards advertising and buying impulsiveness has a positive impact on local shopping loyalty with materialistic attitude being an indirect driver of local shopping loyalty
