Power converters and their associated controllers were recently installed at NHMFL Pulsed Field Facility at Los Alamos National Laboratory to energize the quasi-continuous magnet, which will produce a 60 T flat-top pulse for 100 ms from five 64 MW converters. The liquid nitrogen cooled magnet, which will be the most powerful of its class in the world and the first of its kind in the United States, consists of nine concentric coils that are grouped electrically into three independent sections, as shown in Figure 1.
