The CVD risk factors include non-modifiable risk fac-tors such as age, male sex, family history, and modifiable risk factors for example smoking, hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia. Specifically, improving plasma lipids profile – including: total cholesterol (TC), triacylglycerol (TG), low-density-lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), apo-lipoprotein (apo) B concentrations, apo A1 concentra-tions and high-density-lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C)-is associated with a decreased CVD risk [2].
