Two main classes of semiconducting molecules are commonly used for opto-electronic applications: polymers, featuring an easy solution-processability in thin and uniform yet poorly ordered films, and small poly-aromatic molecules, forming highly defined (liquid)-crystalline architectures with excellent charge mobility.
