Abstract: This paper provides comprehensive development procedures and final forms of mathematical models of Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) for steady state power flow studies. Based on the developed model, the impacts of control strategy and parameters of UPFC on power system operating conditions are discussed. The UPFC model is incorporated into Newton-Raphson power flow algorithm. Test results are presented which demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed models
