In 2012, Cameroon made a minimal advancement in efforts to eliminate the worst forms of child labor. The Government ratified the Optional Protocol on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict, and the Ministry of Social Affairs updated the procedure manual for the adoption of children to reduce the risk of adopted children being trafficked. However, the Government has yet to approve its National Plan of Action to Combat Child Labor and Trafficking in Children. Additionally, gaps remain in the legislative framework, leaving children without protection against the worst forms of child labor.
