Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia due to absolute or relative deficiency of insulin. Many factors have been implicated in etiology of diabetes like genetics, lifestyle, physical activity, nutritional, hormonal and environmental factors. Recently diabetic osteoporosis has been reported by number of researchers; therefore diabetes may increase the risk of osteoporosis. Scope: Effect of Diabetes on bone profile will help to delay degenerative changes in bones at onset of diabetes mellitus. Materials and methods: Total 80 cases were selected for the study. Out of that 50 were cases of type 2 diabetes mellitus and 30 were normal healthy control. All samples were centrifuged and separated serum/plasma was subjected for measurement of parameters like Blood Glucose, Total and Ionised Calcium, Inorganic Phosphate, Alkaline Phosphatase, Total protein and albumin by using Fully Autoanalyser (EM360).
