Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia due to absolute or relative deficiency of insulin. Many factors have been implicated in etiology of diabetes like genetics, lifestyle, physical activity, nutritional, hormonal and environmental factors. Recently diabetic osteoporosis has been reported by number of researchers; therefore diabetes may increase the risk of osteoporosis.
