The Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) is the only Federal program solely devoted to supporting library services in libraries of all types. Congress and the President authorize its existence and allocate funds annually for its operation. Within the two broad goals of technological improvements and services to people of diverse cultures and situations, local libraries can identify and support the highest priorities for each community. The Act is administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Service
