36 Identification of Boundary Conditions Using Natural Frequencies

The fourth issue of SCE Science is being published in conjunction with the launch of the latest European Union (EU) Framework Programme, Horizon 2020. After months of negotiations, Israel and the EU have reached an understanding that enabled Israel to join this prestigious programme. Horizon 2020 is the largest EU research and innovation programme ever offered, with nearly €80 billion of funding available over seven years (from 2014 to 2020). The participation of Israel in the program is of paramount importance, as it allows us to develop and strengthen ties with scientific and research communities around the world. Recently the SCE R&D Authority organized a researchers ' seminar to introduce the program and its building blocks. The latest trend in research around the world is evidenced by the rise in multidisciplinary projects, wherein researchers from various fields join together in order to advance science and yield significant results. Therefore, collaboration in research on national and international levels is essential to success of our researchers. I am pleased to count among our current achievements the establishment of a new research center under the leadership of Dr. Mezhericher – the Center for Engineering Modeling, Design, and Numerical Simulations. And of course, the increase in the number of our highly qualified researchers, which this year has reached nearly one hundred, is a continuing measure of our success
