This article draws on the experience gained in the design and delivery of an Online Learning unit Communication: Theory and Practice. The unit is delivered to first year students on courses within the Applied Social Studies Programme (ASSP) in the Department of Applied Community Studies. While practical considerations provided impetus for the project, the overall challenge was to ensure that the online learning unit would provide an inclusive learning experience for students in keeping with the learning and teaching aims and objectives of the Programme.
