Ridley has done an admirable job of presenting his case for evolution in this 750-page text, Evolution, 3rd edi-tion (2004). The text should be viewed as a bipartate entity, which contains excellent material on quantitative ge-netics, combined with a substandard collection of just-so stories supposedly supporting evolution. The author’s intent behind peppering numerous chapters with anticreationist discourses provides no apparent useful purpose. There are many chapters which of-fer insight into the quantitative mecha-nisms of gene action in populations
