Managing knowledge assets in government has proven to be a critical factor in reinventing public administration and facilitating improved service provision. In the present paper we argue that an enabler to knowledge management in e-government is the use of semantic technologies, which would allow information access and use based on machine-processable semantics of data. Specifically we outline research efforts to use semantic technologies in order to facilitate two critical issues in e-government: (a) supporting change management and agility within the back-office processes of public administrations; and (b) facilitating the development of adaptive front-office processes. 1
