This paper proposes simple Space-Division-Multiplexed Coded OFDM (SDM-COFDM) using inter-channel interference cancellation and SNR(Signal-to-Noise Ratio)-based likelihood weighting for advanced broadband wireless LANs. The key techniques for the proposed SDM-COFDM include a novel burst preamble for MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) channel estimation to cancel the inter-channel interference and SNR-based likelihood weighting to achieve high FEC coding gain of the soft decision Viterbi decoder. The computer simulation confirms the proposed SDM-COFDM with 2 transmit/receive antennas can achieves 100Mbit/s and excellent PER (Packet Error Rate) performance over 20MHz spacing MIMO channel under frequency selective fading.
