This paper is concerned with two interconnected GIS applications used by the Zala County Museum Organization. The system is still in its development phase, partial results, however, can already be presented. The fi rst of the two systems covers the excavated sites, storing all data related to the site (spatial coordinates, object descriptions, photos, drawings), descriptions and depictions of the unearthed fi ndings (inventory, artefact photos and drawings), as well as the results of scientifi c research. This information system supports the scientifi c assessment of archaeological sites. The result is a system that handles all the data of archaeological objects.
