Abstract-In this paper we present different techniques for measuring the electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of the materials. A comparative study regarding the advantages and the limits of these methods in electromagnetic characterization of advanced materials for shielding purpose is considered. Additionally, the possibility to separate the contribution of absorption and reflection properties of these materials to the total shielding effectiveness was investigated. I
