Appendix E Biological Resource Study for Shastina Ranch Subdivision

This section discusses the potential impacts of the project on biological resources. The analysis describes the plant communities and habitats within the public facility plan area and the proposed project site, including existing wetland areas. It also identifies the special-status plant and animal species that exist on or in the vicinity of the project, or that could potentially use the habitats located on the project site. This section was prepared by Gallaway Consulting, Inc. based on plant survey and a wetlands delineation conducted by ENPLAN for the Shastina Ranch site. The Species List for the Biological Resources study and an Environmental Constraints Analysis are included in this document as Appendix C. 4.5.1 STUDY OBJECTIVES The objectives of this study were to characterize the natural communities present on site and to identify, evaluate and map any biological resources that could potentially constrain development. Examples of constraining biological resources include US Fish and Wildlife Service-designated critical habitat for special status species (e.g., vernal pool habitat), known occurrences of special status species and/or their habitats, the presence of sensitive natural communities (e.g., valley oak greater than 24 " dbh), and jurisdictional waters of the United States. The surveys and assessments were undertaken in sufficient detail to allow interested parties to make general assumptions regarding potential development constraints within the Public Facilities Plan Area [PFP]
