Abstract: In this paper an attempt is made to study control charts for the mean using the shrinkage technique. The operating characteristic (OC) function and probability of the error of first kind of the control chart with symmetrical limits are calculated. The OC curves for the shrinkage technique are also studied in the case of known value σ for the mean
