bstract 1.1 General Assembly Layout The beam dynamics of superconducting (SC) heavy-ion inacs operating in the velocity range below 0.4c require a ompact accelerating-focusing lattice. The use of SC olenoids together with SC RF resonators within a ommon cryostat can solve the real-estate problem. The olenoids must have low fringe fields to avoid magnetic-lux capture in the SC RF resonators. Also, incorporating ipole steering coils together with the SC solenoids in one agnet assembly can increase the compactness of the inac lattice. R&D work has been carried out to determine he feasibility of combining the three elements of high olenoid field, low fringe field, and integral dipole field, nto one compact package.
