Capacity Development Occasional Series CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT: VISION AND IMPLICATIONS

Editor’s note: This paper pursues some of the conceptual and strategic discussion initiated in the first paper titled “Capacity Development- Why, What and How? ” Recognizing that the concept is used in different ways, the paper aims to strengthen understanding of the concept’s importance and to clarify the implications of adopting a capacity development approach in development co-operation. Future contributions are expected to explore capacity development from different angles and perspectives, with increasing attention to operational issues. Keeping in mind that true understanding will only emerge from the exploration of concrete development experience, we welcome case studies of CIDA projects and programs as contributions to the series
