Abstract: The basic function of a power system is to supply customers, with electrical energy that has an acceptable degree of reliability and quality. An electric power system consists of a set of components, interconnected in some purposeful way. The reliability of a system depends on the reliability of its components and on the configuration of the system. Power system components are often damaged to the point where customers are left without an energy supply.
