This diploma paper deals with the comparison of two ancient cultures influencing the development of the British Isles. The cultures of the Celts and Romans will be compared not only concerning their faith and the world of religion but also the law and social hierarchy. All these most important aspects of the Celtic and Roman world will be used in the analysis of the conflict between both cultures, as well as evaluating their potential for the domination of the British Isles. The arrival and, above all, the later gradual expanding influence of the Romans will be illustrated by the Legend of Queen Boudicca.
