Abstract. Using a portable navigator for Global Positioning System, the position and the altitude of a mountaineer hiking in the area of Tanzawa-Oyama Quasi-National Park are measured. The time series of average speed of a mountaineer is obtained. Fluctuation of average speed is analyzed in terms of autocorrelation function and f(α)-spectrum. It depends on a style of mountaineering. 1
