The coefficient of isonymy would equal to 0 if no headholder in the first region had a surname equal to any headholder in the second region, and would equal 1 if all headholders of two regions shared the same surnames. Using spatial analysis and the coefficient of isonymy we show different spatial distributions of surnames: a) higher frequency surnames covering the entire territory; b) medium frequency surnames observed in specific regions; c) the least frequency surnames; and d) surnames observed in two geographical areas, a phenomenon that is likely to be the result of internal migration. With this metodology it is possible to detect some old migration flows when data are not available
