Second generation antipsychotics are widely used in the treatment of psychotic disorders, and has been linked to devel-opment of metabolic syndrome. Aripiprazole is a atypical antipsychotic with a novel mechanism of action and has been generally found to be least linked with the development of metabolic complications, such as obesity, diabetes and hyper-lipedemia.We present a case report of a patient on aripiprazole who developed obesity and diabetes mellitus after initia-tion of aripiprazole (German J Psychiatry 2010; 13: 49-50)
