This paper shows that, contrary to the “official ” statistics, the size distribution of income in Korea has not improved steadily since the late 1970s but deteriorated worst ever in the late 1980s. It argues that the high rise of real estate price, which causes prevalent sense of relative deprivation, is also a major root of worsened income distribution in the 1980s. I
