Low airspeed measurement is problematic on helicopters due to adverse flow fields from the rotors impinging on the standard pitot static system. A variety of alternative methods exist to measure airspeed. This note presents a brief review of some of the low airspeed measuring devices available for aircraft and, more particularly, helicopters. This note also introduces a novel technique that was studied within Air Vehicles Division as a concept demonstrator
