Social and personal competencies, such as self-awareness, optimism, and empathy, have been shown to enhance both satisfaction and productivity at work. Collectively, these competencies have been termed ‘Emotional Intelligence ’ (EI) and have been shown to differentiate leading managers from less able performers.
