AMBIENT INTELLIGENCE: DIGITAL PERSONAL ENVIRONMENT FOR HEALTH AND WELL BEING

Abstract – The ambient intelligence (AmI) can be considered as the third stage in the roadmap of computing, where the key element is the individual, who becomes the object, being the subject the technology. The vision of AmI is to provide to individuals with better control of their environment, assisted by electronic devices of great functionality, which bear personal expressions, well-being, and productivity, leading eventually to a better quality of life. The materialization of this new paradigm is being done in various ways. This paper proposes a path of action based on a service-oriented architecture to achieve a personal digital environment for health and well being. This architecture combines the physical layer with its sensors and actuators, the middleware layer, whose purpose is to link network components in a logical level, and the layer of services, dependent on environmental conditions
