This article pursues two objectives: in the first place I want to show to what extent coaching in action is a special form of teaching, i.e. that it is a genuinely pedagogical process. I pro-pose to do this by portraying teaching as a complex action which is characterised by a set of definite basic operations like showing, diagnosing, anticipating, interpreting and many more. In addition I want to pay tribute to the temporal constitution of training by looking at it from the aspect of articulation, show the interrelation between training and educating and underline the fostering of talent as a task that teaching and training have in common.
