This paper presents an overview of the Indian tradition of logic. The paper starts with the Vedic ideas related to logic and goes on to summarize the rele-vant contributions of the formal schools of philosophy which included one de-voted principally to logic. The Indian tradition of logic reached its peak in the Navya Nyāya school of medieval India. 1
