Abstract. We describe a system designed to provide database programming sup-port for Oberon programmers. The system is based on a generic object-oriented data model which supports rich classification structures and an algebra over col-lections of objects. We describe how support for the constructs and operations of this model is provided to the programmer without changes to the Oberon lan-guage and with minimal changes to the run-time system. In particular, we con-sider issues of support for object evolution, constraint maintenance and query optimisation.
