Number Theory is used extensively in public-key cryptosystems especially the ElGamal cryptosystem Presently the ElGamal system is used not only in sending information through computer networks but also in authentication through digital signatures. In this project, the student will study various ElGamal cryptosystems and their mathematical basis. He will discuss the strengths, weakness and the efficiencies of these systems and if possible, propose strategy for their improvements. The student is expected to work independently by using the library and the internet
