BACKGROUND Hypertension is an important public health problem in both economically developed and developing nations. In many patients, the condition causes no symptoms until the occurrence of major cardiovascular complications. The aim of the study is to know the prevalence of hypertension among adults (18 years and above) in a rural community and to identify the risk factors of hypertension. MATERIALS AND METHODS It was an observational study carried out among all the 1151 adults aged 18 years and above residing in Raghunathapalem village of Khammam district, Andhra Pradesh.
