The actions of Occupational Therapy with adolescents in situations of social vulnerability: a literature review

Objective: This research aims to describe the actions of Occupational Therapy with adolescents in situations of social vulnerability and analyze how the professional contribution in the social field. Method: This is a bibliographical research of indexed articles made through consultations the data platform of the Virtual Health Library, the Occupational Therapy Magazines of the University of São Paulo and the Cadernos de Terapia Ocupacional of the Federal University of São Carlos. The following health descriptors (DeCS) were used: Occupational Therapy AND adolescents AND social vulnerability. We included original articles, experience reports and case studies on Occupational Therapy actions/interventions among adolescents in situations of social vulnerability in Brazil between 2005 and 2015. Results: A total of 48 articles were found, of which 39 were excluded because they did not meet the inclusion criteria of the research and 9 were read in full and analyzed. The strategies used by Occupational Therapy consisted of workshops of activities, dynamics and group discussion. These strategies have provided important results for this population, for example: strengthening of bonds, improved communication, relaxed behavior of adolescents, appropriation of rights, exercise of autonomy and realization of personal projects. Conclusion: The literature found provides support for insertion and implementation of Occupational Therapy actions with adolescents in situations of social vulnerability
