This paper deals with the fantastic techniques recorded in the short story 'The Fall of the House of Usher' by E. A. Poe. Tzvetan Todorov is considered to be a founder of fantastic genre. His research is based on the reader's experience and reception in reading and recognizing fantastic in literature. Other than this, we are going to look into: psychological, biographical, formalistic approaches in reading Poe's work as well as the writing style used in the creating of fantastic atmosphere.
