BRAZILIAN FAMILIES: PERNAMBUCO AND THE MESSAGE - XVI-XVI CENTURIES

The present work has for objective to show the importance of the study of the family, essential to be understood as ifit processed the formation of the Brazilian society during the centuries of Portuguese colonial domination. lnitially we analyze the role of cunhã, and its relationship with the first colonizers, families formers who had given origin to the first Brazilians. In subsequent phase, the presence of the Portuguese and African woman, who with a contribution ethnic, but not only also cultural increases the complexity of the daily experiences in these mixed environments. lt not only has proportionate a biological mestization for the unions passengers, but as we will see, for the legitimate, recognized marriages to the eyes of the Church Catholic and society. A cultural mestization emerges with all the force in the studies on the Brazilian family, when we observe that through the marriage, men and women, they had used strategies and tactics to obtain to guarantee its survival, to acquire recognition and status before the society
