Cellular Automata can be used as a simulation technique which bases itself on simple rules based on local interaction to describe the evolutionary dynamics of phenomena. This simulation technique proved itself to be useful and powerful compared to other model techniques, when knowledge of the phenomenon is incomplete or when local discontinuities are lofty.
