Summary

The purpose of this study was to determine the normal range and test variability for intravenous glu-cose tolerance test (IVGTT) in rabbits. Fifty one clinically healthy New Zealand white rabbits of both sexes (31 female and 20 male), 3.5−4 months of age and weighing 2.8 to 3.7 kg were used. The IVGTT was performed after an overnight fasting period of 12 h by intravenous injection of 40 % glu-cose (0.5 g/kg body weight) as a bolus dose over a period of 60 s. Blood samples were collected prio
