This article analyses anthropological sciences publications from specialized journals on a prior stage of academic institutionalization of Anthropology in Chile. This period of time gave birth to a field conformed by an array of research areas (ethnological, ethnographic, archaeological, prehistoric, folkloric, linguistic and physical or biological). Moreover, it developed in conditions of relativestabilitywithinmuseums andscientificsocieties,bothsituated in natural sciences but less so, in human and anthropological sciences.
