Have you made exercising more one of your New Year’s resolutions? Whether you enjoy running or are a devoted gardener, being active is essential for a healthy body and mind. Below are the exercise guidelines for healthy adults issued by the American College of Sports Medicine: Exercise (be active) 3 to 5 days per week Warm up 5 to 10 minutes before exercise Maintain exercise intensity for 30 to 45 minutes Gradually decrease intensity of workout then stretch and cool down for 5 to 10 minutes While this may sound difficult to achieve, there are many ways to get or stay active.
