Whereas, after plain balloon angioplasty, restenosis is for roughly two-thirds due to negative vessel wall remodelling, the late lumen loss after stent implantation is virtually exclusively caused by neointimal hyperplasia, a proliferation of smooth muscle cells with deposition of abundant extracellular matrix....
