Recently more and more electrostatic precipitator has been upgraded, replacing the traditional DC power supply with impulse energisation. Different types of supply voltage were applied to obtain current impulses for reducing back corona, earning energy saving and better efficiency of precipitation. For the evaluation of the effect of impulse energisation, several numerical models were made using different computational methods. A large number of models calculate ion space charge density distribution assuming continuous ionic current between high voltage and grounded electrodes.
