City authorities have shown considerable reluctance in implementing integrated pricing policies in urban contexts. This is due to a perceived lack of public acceptability, particularly related to road pricing. Nevertheless, integrated urban transport strategies can be proposed to improve transport conditions through trans modal pricing based on two fundamental principles: · optimising modal split; · pricing the environmental externalities of private transport.
